Y.A.N.A. (You Are Not Alone) was founded in 1986, and since that time they have helped thousands of families stay together in times of extreme stress. Y.A.N.A. supports families of School District 71 with funding in the form of transportation and accommodation if a child between the ages of 0-19 needs to receive special medical attention outside of the Comox Valley. Y.A.N.A. believes that when a child is ill the whole family requires looking after.

Y.A.N.A assists between 10-15 families every month, they rent 4 apartments in Vancouver that are full year round, and they spend about $250,000 every year to make the program possible.

I personally know three families who have been helped by Y.A.N.A and I am extremely grateful for their support. If you ask around the Comox Valley almost everyone knows at least one family who has been, or is being helped by this organization.

On August long-weekend 2010 was given $100 by my friend Taylor Conroy and consequently dropped a few lines on Facebook that ended up raising $1370 in a few days with virtually no effort.  Read the full story by clicking here and be sure to support this incredible cause if you live in the Comox Valley.
