Based in British Columbia, Canada, the World Action Group is a network of dinner party friends. This organization is on an indefinite hiatus due to domestic duties (a sudden influx of babies, mortgages, career balancing acts, and loads of other volunteer projects). However, there were two videos created that have been saved for the archives.
The first video is about William Strachan’s A Day For Africa project. I supported the first fund raiser that raised over $25,000 for the Stephen Lewis Foundation. It was a big thrill for the entire community when Stephen Lewis accepted Will’s cheque in person after a passionate speech. That day raised around $125,000 for the Stephen Lewis Foundation, if my memory serves me right, with the help of World Community and the three amazing Stephen Lewis Grandmothers Groups in the Comox Valley. I got to spend some time with Stephen Lewis that day and ask questions that only he knew the answers to – that was awesome.
The second video is an interview with a really amazing woman name Kari Grady Grossman. I met Kari after returning home from a trip to Cambodia and Thailand. Kari was vacationing with her husband George on Vancouver Island. By chance or fate we met during a presentation and book signing she gave. We shot the interview the following day. Kari has an interesting story and her work has become her play. Watch the video and visit her inspiring cause Sustainable Schools International. If you are currently living in the United States please support this cause.
